Blood is the New Black

Mitra grew up in Los Angeles, California and headed east to Parsons School of Design in New York City. During her four years in NY, Mitra went from being told she'd "never work in this town again" by one of the most prominent fashion photographers to being named one of V Magazine's "Seventeen Most Industrious in New York City."
Returning to LA after earning her degree, Mitra launched Blood is the New Black. Her intention is to make T-shirts a canvas which will further democratize art. She uses the company to open up talented artists to wider audiences and allow their art to become available to the masses. Each season she showcases various artist's work on hand silk-screened shirts made in California.
